Now that we’re a week into the final term of this academic year, we’d like to take the opportunity to reintroduce our Safeguarding Team and remind parents/carers of the support available.
The safety and wellbeing of our students is always our highest priority—whether that’s in provision, at home, in the community, or online. Our Safeguarding Team is available throughout the school day to offer guidance, support, and a listening ear whenever it’s needed.
We are also pleased to introduce Amber, our newly appointed Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Amber has been part of our provision for the past 12 months and brings valuable prior experience from working within a college safeguarding team.

We hope you all had a relaxing and well-earned Easter break! We’re back, refreshed, and ready for the final term—but first, here’s a little look at what our students got up to before the holidays…
1/2/3/4. Andy hosted a fantastic chocolate-making workshop, where students discovered the journey from ingredients to finished chocolate! 5/6. It’s not Easter without an Easter egg hunt! 🍫 A huge thank you to our generous donors Link3 Recruitment, SAAF Education & TeacherActive for their kindness and support. Thanks to them, our students enjoyed an amazing Easter egg hunt, with plenty of chocolate treats for everyone! 🐣 7/8. Tash and Holly took a group to Nottingham Playhouse to see Punch!, a powerful real-life story exploring hope, humanity, and the potential for change. 9/10. There was also time spent enjoying the sunshine while getting stuck into construction work and completing maintenance work around provision ☀️ 11. Finally, students got stuck into an intense and very competitive game of dodgeball in tutor wars.

The weeks are flying by! Here’s a Quick look at some of the things our students have been up to: 1/2/3/4. Our mechanic students continue to work hard and make great progress towards their qualification. Big congratulations to J for achieving “Student of the Week!” 🌟 5/6/7/8/9. Our catering students have begun completing their assessments. As part of their BTEC Hospitality & Tourism qualification, they recreated their own recipes, planned their budgets and produced their tasty dishes! 🧑🍳 10. In Art, some students created their own clay masks. We can’t wait to see the finished product!👺
The ‘Attendance Challenge’ is well underway with 17 students on track to earning their reward.
And finally, a special shoutout to all students that sat their Functional Skills Maths & English exams this week and last. You all demonstrate amazing resilience and determination ✍️
On Wednesday, 7 students enjoyed an amazing trip to Twycross Zoo with Bonnie and Craig. From giraffes and tigers, to creepy crawlies and goats, it was a great day out 🐆🐒

1/2. Our weekly basketball session in action! 🏀 3/4/5. Students have been busy in catering cooking up a storm. One student made Caribbean fried dumplings — crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Delicious! 🧑🍳 6. Last week our football team performed brilliantly at the AP football tournament, making it all the way to the semi-finals. Fantastic effort! ⚽ 7/8. Students enjoyed the sunshine with a walk to our friends at @alternative.acres . A big thank you to Gemma for having us! ☀️ 9/10. In art, students have been creating mood boards on the theme of masks from around the world as part of their BTEC Art qualification 🎨 11/12/13. During form time this week, students have been competing to see which form group can build the longest domino run!
This week, 20 of our students achieved an incredible 100% attendance - attending every single one of their placement days with us at Crisp!
To keep the momentum going, we’re holding an “100% Attendance Challenge” over the next two weeks. Any student who attends all of their placement days will earn a reward of their choice - including gift vouchers, fast food treats and extra tuck shop.

After a restful half term, students have got stuck straight back into it, particularly in Mechanics with Kev, as they work towards their Level 1 IMI Vehicle Maintenance qualification.
This week, they focused on workshop practice by gaining a solid introduction of new tools, equipment and safe working procedures.
We couldn’t be prouder of our student for an amazing effort at the FutureChef Regional Finals! Competing in a high-pressure, professional kitchen alongside eight other competitors, he stayed focused and gave it his absolute best.
Although he didn’t make it through to the next round, this was still an incredible achievement. A huge well done for representing us so brilliantly — we are all so proud of you!
